Vivo V29 Pro is expected to launch in June alongside the rest of the V29 series. The lineup is also expected to be released in Indian markets. It is likely to succeed the Vivo V27 series. Back in March this year, Vivo unveiled the V27 and V27 Pro models in India powered by octa-core MediaTek Dimensity chipsets. The handsets packed 4,600mAh batteries with 66W fast charging support. Now, the company has confirmed some key specifications of the upcoming Vivo V29 Pro on its official website. The Vivo V29 Pro was listed on the official  Vivo website confirming certain key specifications of the handset. It is listed to sport a 6.7-inch full-HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) curved OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The company confirmed that the phone will be available in a configuration of 12GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage. However, it is not confirmed, if that is the only storage variant that the phone will be launched in. For optics, the triple rear camera unit of the Vivo V29 Pro is listed to include a 64-megapixel primary sensor, which is vaguely visible in the teaser image accompanying the confirmed specifications on the website. The module is placed on a rectangular camera island in the top left corner on the back panel. The front camera is also set to be equipped with a 50-megapixel sensor. The phone is seen in a black colour option, with very slim bezels on the side and bottom. The power button and the volume rocker are seen on the right edge of the handset. The company logo appears vertically placed towards the bottom left corner of the back panel. Vivo also revealed in the listing that the Vivo V29 Pro will be backed by a 5000mAh battery with 66W fast charging support. Meanwhile, the Vivo V29 Lite model has previously been tipped to feature a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display and sport a 16-megapixel front camera sensor. The triple rear camera system is likely to be equipped with one 64-megapixel main sensor and two 2-megapixel sensors. The Lite variant is also likely to pack a 5,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging support, as per the previous report. It could be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC and be available in a lone 8GB + 128GB variant. Tourists Prohibited From Paying in Digital Assets as Crypto Crackdown Intensifies in Bali
Post Image
Crypto payments for hotel stays, restaurant bills, and shopping centres are now strictly prohibited in Bali, Indonesia. The government there has warned all the visiting tourists against using cryptocurrencies for day-to-day transactions and purchases. A formal press conference was called for by the Bali Provincial Government to make this announcement. It was attended by Bali Police Chief Inspector General, Putu Jayan Danu Putra, and Head of Bank Indonesia (BI) — Bali Representative Office, Trisno Nugroho. "Foreign tourists who behave inappropriately, do activities that are not allowed in their visa permit, use crypto as a means of payment, and violate other provisions will be dealt with firmly,” media reports quoted Wayan Koster, governor of Bali as saying. The island, with an estimated population of 4.3 lakh, is ready to impose stringent laws to curb the unlawful usage of crypto assets. Since cryptocurrency transactions are largely untraceable, these digital assets are often exploited by miscreants to facilitate illegal transactions to launder money and finance terror. Bali is putting in place a bunch of punishments to deal with the violators of its crypto laws by both nationals and tourists. Offenders could be served a deportation notice or may be brought face to face with criminal penalties. A fine of up to $13,000 (roughly Rs. 10 lakh) as well as a year-long jail sentence could be levied on the offenders, depending on the court's decision. Governor Koster has reiterated that Bali's fiat currency, the rupiah, is the only legal tender there. Vendors who accept crypto payments could also put themselves at risk of losing their operational business licences. Bali, which depends on tourism to churn its revenue, faced economically challenging times during and after the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world. After the world began to re-open in 2022, Bali businesses starving for revenue, opened their doors to major customer comfort which ended up including the acceptance of crypto payments. For now, Indonesia permits the trading of crypto assets as commodities under the Ministry of Trade. The authorities of Indonesia have also instructed banks against processing crypto payments. Citing the Ministry of Trade, CoinGecko has reported that Indonesia has over 6.5 million crypto investors.

AI Means Everyone Can Now Be a Computer Programmer, Says Nvidia Chief

Artificial intelligence means everyone can now be a computer programmer as all they need to do is speak to the computer, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on Monday, hailing the end of the "digital divide".  Nvidia has surged to become the world's most valuable listed semiconductor company as a major supplier of chips and computing systems for artificial intelligence.  The company last week forecast second-quarter revenue more than 50 percent above Wall Street estimates and said it was boosting supply to meet surging demand for its artificial-intelligence chips, which are used to power ChatGPT and many similar services.  Speaking to thousands of people at the Computex forum in Taipei, Huang, who was born in southern Taiwan before his family emigrated to the United States when he was a child, said AI was leading a computing revolution.  "There's no question we're in a new computing era," he said in a speech, occasionally dropping in words of Mandarin or Taiwanese to the delight of the crowd.  "Every single computing era you could do different things that weren't possible before, and artificial intelligence certainly qualifies," Huang added.  "The programming barrier is incredibly low. We have closed the digital divide. Everyone is a programmer now - you just have to say something to the computer," he said.  "The rate of progress, because it's so easy to use, is the reason why it's growing so fast. This is going to touch literally every single industry."  Nvidia's chips have helped companies such as Microsoft add human-like chat features to search engines such as Bing.  Huang demonstrated what AI could do, including getting a programme to write a short pop song praising Nvidia with only a few words of instruction.  He unveiled several new applications, including a partnership with the world's largest advertising group WPP for generative AI-enabled content for digital advertising.  Nvidia has strained to meet demand for its AI chips, with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is reportedly building out an artificial-intelligence startup, last week telling an interviewer that the graphics processing units (GPUs) are "considerably harder to get than drugs".  © Thomson Reuters 2023

OnePlus Nord N30 5G Specifications Leaked via Geekbench Listing, Could Get Snapdragon 695 SoC
Post Image
OnePlus Nord N30 5G is expected to debut soon as a successor to last year's OnePlus Nord N20 5G. Ahead of any official announcement, the Nord series smartphone was spotted on Geekbench benchmarking site. The OnePlus Nord N30 5G is shown with an octa-core Snapdragon 695 SoC and 8GB RAM. The listing suggests model number CPH2513 and Android 13 operating system. The OnePlus Nord N30 5G is speculated to release in the US market as a rebranded version of the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite. The Geekbench listing shows the OnePlus smartphone with model number CPH2513. The same model number recently appeared on the Google Play Console site and was then considered to be associated with the OnePlus Nord N30 5G. As per the listing, an octa-core chipset will power the phone. It shows two CPU cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.21GHz and six cores capped at 1.80GHz. These CPU speeds are associated with the Snapdragon 695 SoC. The site also shows that the phone has 7.23GB of memory. This translates to 8GB RAM on paper. The benchmark listing indicates Android 13 on the OnePlus Nord N30 5G. It has received a single-core score of 888 points and a multi-core score of 2076 points. These don't reflect the actual performance of the purported OnePlus phone. The handset that appeared on Geekbench may just be a prototype and may go through refinements before the final release. OnePlus Nord N30 5G is expected to debut in the US as a rebranded version of the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G. The latter was launched in India in April with a starting price tag of Rs. 19,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G has a 6.72-inch full-HD (1,080x2,400 pixels) LCD display with a dynamic refresh rate of 120Hz. It is powered by a Snapdragon 695 SoC, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The handset sports a triple rear camera unit, led by a 108-megapixel Samsung HM6 sensor. It flaunts a 16-megapixel selfie sensor and packs up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. The OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC wired charging.

Google Was Working on a Second Foldable Alongside Pixel Fold, But it Wasn’t “Good Enough”: Report
Post Image
Google only announced one foldable phone with a horizontal folding design at its recent Google I/O 2023 developer event. At the event, Google also announced two other hardware products called the Pixel Tablet and the affordable Pixel 7a smartphone. Its foldable offering called the Pixel Fold, is currently available on pre-order in the US, but will be available in select markets globally at a later date. Unlike most smartphone brands, Google only announced one foldable at launch. However, a recent podcast revealed that there was a second foldable in development as well. The confirmation of the existence of this second foldable came from Google's head of design for hardware products, Ivy Ross. According to Android Authority the Google executive mentioned the existence of this second foldable in the official Made By Google podcast. Ross gave out an explanation about how there was another foldable model that Google had created without revealing any further details about its form factor. He added that the team made the decision to hold back on its launch as it was not “good enough yet”. He also mentioned that the team at Google felt that they should hold on to launching this second foldable until it was capable of doing things better than similar models that are already available in the market. Simply put, Google could launch this second foldable at a later date, as it did not have enough features to outdo existing models in the market. Since Google already launched a horizontally folding phone, our best guess would be a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip-like form factor with a clamshell flippable design for the second foldable. Google's Pixel Fold, although quite late to the foldable game, will mainly end up giving Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 some competition. The Pixel Fold's form factor appears similar to Oppo's recently launched Find N2 model, with a wider display compared to the outgoing Galaxy Z Fold 4's taller form factor. The foldable has a 5.8-inch full-HD+ outer display and a 7.6-inch 6:5 aspect ratio, inner foldable display with a resolution of 1,840 x 2,208 pixels. Both displays have a 120Hz maximum refresh rate. The Pixel Fold also has an IPX8 rating for water resistance. Its rear camera setup consists of a 49-megapixel primary camera, a 10.8-megapixel ultrawide, and a10.8-megapixel telephoto camera. There are two selfie cameras, one embedded in its outer display and a second one that sits above the inner folding display in its bezel. It is powered by the Google Tensor G2 processor, which is also available in its Pixel 7a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones. Google Pixel Fold will only be available in Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US.
