Justin Bieber’s BAYC NFT Worth $1.3 Million Plummets in Value, Now Stands at Under $60,000: Details

Pop singer Justin Bieber, who has not hesitated from exploring the digital assets sector, has reportedly been exposed to the financial risks that crypto sceptics keep warning others about. An NFT purchased by Bieber last year for an outlandish price of $1.3 Million (roughly Rs.10 crore) has now crashed to a price less than half of its original value. This drastic change in the values of digital collectibles can be blamed on the ongoing market volatility affecting the overall sector.
Bieber's NFT belongs to the famous Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection. Created by digital art platform Yuga Labs, NFTs from BAYC show bored looking apes in various avatars.
The BAYC NFT #3001, that cost the “Peaches” singer over a million dollars, now reportedly stands at the price point of $59,090 (roughly Rs. 48 lakh).
The development has been talked about heavily on Twitter as a warning to potential NFT investors.

The price of BAYC NFTs began to wobble around April when the overall crypto market was also beginning to slow down amid post-COVID-19 inflation in the US.
Owing to back-to-back interest rate hikes in the US as well as regularity uncertainty shadowing the global Web3 sector, investors exited in plenty, negatively impacting the digital assets sector.
As per NFT and Web3 analysers like OpenSea and CoinGecko, the floor price of the BAYC NFT collection has sunk significantly in the last few months, a new one recorded after October 2021.
The floor price (lowest price of an NFT from a collection) of BAYC NFTs stands lower than ETH 30 (roughly Rs. 48 lakh).
Bieber's BAYC NFT #3001, that shows a teary, brown-coloured ape standing in a “new punk blue” background in a simple, black-coloured t-shirt, was purchased by the singer at a higher than listed price.
The original price of this piece was around $270,908 (roughly Rs. 2 crore) at the time of sale, but the Canadian singer bought it for a price 300 percent higher, according to Bitcoin.com, inviting trollers to attack him at the time.
Now that its price has fallen, it remains unclear if Bieber would retain the NFT or re-sell it for profits.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 May Not Come With IP58 Rating for Dust and Water Resistance

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to debut later this month during the Galaxy Unpacked event along with Galaxy Z Flip 5. Earlier rumours have suggested dust resistance for the Galaxy Z Fold 5. However, a prominent tipster has now denied this rumour and states that it won't come with an official IP58 rating for dust and water resistance. Last year's Galaxy Z Fold 4 featured an IPX8 rated build. However, it lacked dust resistance.
According to reliable tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will not come with an official IP58 rating for dust and water resistance. The latest leak seems to contradict an earlier leak that claimed IP58 dust- and water-resistance in both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The current generation foldable smartphones from Samsung — Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 — have IPX8-rated build. Some latest smartphone models including the Motorola Edge 40 and Asus Zenfone 10 have IP68 dust and water resistance.
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Watch 6, and Galaxy Tab S9 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in the last week of July. The event will take place in South Korea. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is said to carry a price tag of $1,799 (roughly Rs. 1,47,000).

For selfies and video chats, there could be a 10-megapixel front camera. Also, the foldable could feature a 4-megapixel under-display camera located on the internal display. Samsung is also tipped to equip the handset with a 4,400mAh battery.
Telegram-Backed TON Blockchain Adds End-to-End Encryption to Messages, Boosts Privacy Factor

The TON blockchain network will now let users share messages and financial transaction details with each other, with a layer of encryption protecting their privacy. The creation of The Open Network (TON) blockchain was initiated around 2018 by Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram. The TON mainnet went live and completely operational around last year. Now controlled by the TON Foundation, the blockchain keeps getting newer updates to cater to the needs of all its users.
Up until now, when a TON user sent a message tagged to a financial transaction to another user, it used to be open to the public. With the new update however, users will be allowed to encrypt their messages end-to-end — accessible only to the end recipient.
Basically, TON users, who sent text greetings on birthdays and anniversaries to their peers along with Toncoin or NFT gifts, will be able to do so with complete encryption.
In an official Twitter announcement, the team behind TON posted a video clip demonstrating this new feature.
The clip shows that encrypting messages on TON would be an optional feature, which users will have to select specifically to activate it.

“Even in the event of an apocalypse and the failure of conventional messenger servers, you will retain the ability to send messages via the decentralised TON blockchain,” reports quoted Anatoly Makosov, a Core developer at TON Foundation, as saying.
While TON was conceptualised by Telegram founder Durov, it was later abandoned. The open-source code of the blockchain, however, was available for people to build on.
Later, under the oversight of the TON Foundation, the blockchain began showing promise and growth.
In November last year, crypto investment company DWF Labs invested $10 million (roughly Rs. 80 crore) in the Layer-1 blockchain network.
To drive the adoption of this eco-friendly, proof-of-stake blockchain, the foundation had auctioned rare usernames in October last year.
In April 2022, the TON foundation had raised $1 billion (roughly Rs. 7,900 crore) in donations to further its development efforts.
Unocoin crypto exchange listed Toncoin for trade in India last year and is the only exchange to have done so till now.
Each TONCOIN is currently trading at $1.43 (roughly Rs. 117) with a market cap of $7.2 billion (roughly Rs. 59,053 crore), as per CoinMarketCap.
